Government, community and industry leaders are gathering in Vancouver tomorrow to delve into the opportunities and questions around cannabis legalization.
NICHE Canada and CannabisWise are hosting the Cannabis & Our Community forum to educate stakeholders from local government, tourism, work safety, health care, insurance and other sectors on what to expect with cannabis legalization.
“Cannabis legalization is a process that will evolve over time. And, it’s only through education, outreach and transparency that we can ensure the transition is a successful one,” says Linda Stromberg, CEO of the National Institute for Cannabis Health and Education (NICHE). “We want to have a robust conversation and provide people with meaningful and practical information about how communities can adapt to the changes and succeed in this new environment.”
The conference is the latest in a series of forums NICHE has held in communities across Canada to explore the current regulatory framework, address issues around community health and safety, and highlight how businesses and communities can capitalize on the opportunities available in the region and mitigate any potential risk.
The session will begin with an update from Health Canada, and will include presentations from the BC Government, the City of Vancouver and other experts who will provide unique insights on the industry.
“The forum targets the needs of communities and our goal is to ensure people gain a better understanding of business development opportunities and how organizations are able to smoothly transition to the new legal and regulatory framework,” says Stromberg.
