As you kick off the work week, here are five things making news in the cannabis industry:

  • New Blog: CEO Update: Conversations Continue as Canada Prepares for Legalization; Where are we and where are we headed? That’s been the topic of discussion as NICHE continues to reach out to communities in an effort to foster constructive conversations about what cannabis legalization means to them and how people can prepare for the upcoming changes.

  • News Release: Cannabis Wise Announces Partnership with BC Leader in Innovation; Cannabis Wise is proud to announce a new partnership with Vancouver-based Victory Square Technologies to help the company deliver Canada’s first national cannabis certification program.

  • Senate News: The Cannabis Act returns to the Social Affairs, Science and Technology Committee this week. A number of heavy hitters will present before the committee, including MP Bill Blair, Trudeau’s point person on legalization.

  • ICYMI: Health Canada and the Canadian Hockey League announced a new public education partnership to help youth understand the facts about cannabis. The #FocusedOn campaign encourages youth to make positive and healthy lifestyle choices.

  • Food for Thought: Western premiers are calling on Ottawa to do more to help their provinces enforce drug-impaired driving laws after cannabis legalization. As the Globe reports, A final communiqué issued at the western premiers meeting in Yellowknife last week also urged the federal government to expedite the approval of a saliva-screening device so police forces across the country can procure the equipment and train their officers accordingly.
