NICHE this Week: 5 Things You Need to Know


As you kick off the week, here are five things making news in the cannabis industry:

  • NICHE Canada introduces cannabis accreditation program; Last week NICHE introduced CannabisWise, a national accreditation program that will recognize industry high performance in health and safety, and promote quality control, compliance with new laws and regulations, and responsible cannabis use.

  • NICHE Canada is hosting a webinar for craft growers in partnership with Health Canada on Monday. Read more about why we need to continue to reach out to small-scale producers to better understand how they fit into the new regime and how governments can accommodate their business needs.

  • The federal government reached a deal with the provinces on sharing cannabis tax revenue, and the price will be about $10 a gram; As the CBC reports, the agreement gives provinces 75 per cent of tax revenues.

  • ICYMI: Marijuana compound is harmless and should be available, WHO says; As the Independent reports, the World Health Organization says CBD has health benefits, no adverse outcomes and should not be subject to government restrictions.
