NICHE Canada - Board of Directors - Call for applicants

The National Institute for Cannabis Health & Education (NICHE) is seeking Board members for 2018 appointment to contribute to the organization's commitment to support the development of public policy and research to assist all levels of government manage the transition to the legalization of the cannabis industry. The goal of NICHE is to support the development of policies and regulations that have the health and safety of Canadians as the fundamental priority.

NICHE has succeeded by being collaborative with industry, government, the academic community, health advocates and interested stakeholders. We help by developing innovative initiatives to educate and bring people together for meaningful conversations.

The ideal Board candidates will come from across Canada, have previous board experience and expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Policy

  • Strategic Planning

  • Financial Management

  • Government Relations

  • Board Governance


We are looking for representation from:

  • Business

  • Policing

  • Patient Advocacy

  • Medicine

  • Aboriginal Community

  • Youth (19 - 25)

Applicants must be: 

  • 19 years or older

  • A resident of Canada

  • Able to attend (in person or by teleconference) four two-hour meetings per year and one half day strategic planning session per year.

  • Willing to commit to a 2 year term


Bill C-45, 'The Cannabis Act' is at present awaiting passage by Canada's Senate. Once that occurs, Royal Assent is expected to be granted soon thereafter.
